This years edition sees a record 134 players taking part in the Open section which includes 7 Grandmasters and many other titled players.
 The event is being held in Red Rock Hotel Penang from the 4th of December to 9th December 2017. The popular chess event also attracted a record 178 participants in the Challengers section making the total of 321 players playing in the 9 round event. I will be a busy time for chess players here as there will be a blitz as well as the Penang Chess League team event. Right after this event, there will be the Johor Open!
